ConservationFIT species

ConservationFIT is launching the first phase with algorithm development for cheetah, jaguar and snow leopard.

Why did we choose these species to launch ConservationFIT?   Firstly, they’re all in decline and at-risk from both human:wildlife conflict and habitat destruction.  Secondly, they occupy habitats where tracks are ubiquitous – and seen much more often than the animals themselves.  Finally, by working with the AZA Species Survival Plans (SSP) for cheetah, jaguar and snow leopard we hope to be able to quickly collect footprints we need to build the field monitoring algorithms.
